I've been riding for 22 years with the last 13 or so being 100+ day seasons in JH. This is the best boot I've ever ridden. I got in to ThirtyTwo many years ago and loved several TM-2s, then the TM-2 XLTs, with a mix of other tries in there like the Primes, Ultralights, Lashed, Focus BOA, and the TM-3. I tried some other boot brands, too, but never made it more than a few days. I am addicted to Vibram soles now for hiking so while I love the TM-3, I just don't trust it for days a hike happens, which is sometimes unpredictable. I love the XLTs, but they're on the stiff side and I'm getting on the older side, and splitting more and more, so this boot fits the bill this year. Splitting, I do feel the extra stride length, which is an obvious positive. And, with the right binding (Union Strata/Contact Pro hybrid for me), I see zero loss in resort performance vs the XLT/TM-3, just less stiffness and weight from the XLT, and comparable flex to the TM-3 which is basically perfect. Hikes are sublime with light feet, reminding me of the ultralights, but with grip like the XLT/Focus BOAs. A buddy also bought these this year and he agrees completely, best boot ever. Seriously, a boot that feels like an 80s after-ski moon boot comfort-wise, then totally performs hiking, riding, and splitting. What a time to be alive.
